Mississippi Highway Patrol earns multiple awards at Lawfit 2026

The Mississippi Highway Patrol team earned numerous awards at Lawfit 2026, according to an official post from the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.

Participants secured high rankings in several events, including a third-place finish by Tommy Stinson in the bench press for males, and a fourth-place finish by Julian Wells. Christian Coleman placed fourth among females in the same event.

Chelsey Giles led the pack in the 1.5-mile run, finishing first with a time of 8 minutes, 35 seconds. Coleman also placed fifth in that event with a time of 12:10. Giles finished fifth in sit-ups among females, while Julian Wells was third among males. Coleman secured second in pull-ups.

In pursuit course competitions, Julian Wells and Jason Wells finished second and fifth among males, respectively, with Giles and Coleman earning second place among females. The team also performed well in relay events, with Giles and Brown finishing third in mixed pairs, Giles and Coleman taking second in female pairs, and Stinson and Julian Wells placing second in the two-man team event. The four-man team, consisting of Stinson, Bowie, Brown, and Julian Wells, finished second overall.

In overall individual categories, Giles and Coleman placed second and fourth among females, respectively, while Julian Wells and Tommy Stinson finished fourth and fifth among males. The department congratulated its team members on their accomplishments at the competition.
