Oxford Police Team Honors Trooper John Harris in Competition

The Oxford Police Department’s LawFit team participated in a nationwide competition over the past two days, demonstrating determination, discipline, and pride, according to department officials.

More than just a contest, the team competed with a purpose — to honor the memory of Trooper John Harris of the Mississippi Highway Patrol, whose End of Watch was May 28, 2021, officials said.

Trooper Harris was the brother of Oxford business owner Lee Harris. The team wore shirts bearing his name during the competition, each mile run and challenge faced in remembrance of his service and sacrifice, officials added.

Department representatives emphasized that every effort was dedicated to honoring Harris’s life and the legacy of law enforcement officers who have given everything in service to others.
