Oxford Animal Resource Center transports 36 dogs to rescue partners in 15-hour drive

The Oxford Animal Resource Center completed a 15-hour transport, safely relocating 36 dogs to rescue partners in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Deerfield, Illinois.

The transport was part of an effort during August, National Empty the Shelters Month, to help maintain the shelter’s no-kill status. The shelter defines a no-kill community by a 90% save rate, emphasizing lifesaving and community safety.

According to ARC Director Kelli Briscoe, the journey not only gave these dogs a fresh start but also created space at the Oxford shelter for animals on the waitlist. Briscoe expressed gratitude for the community’s support, praising staff, adopters, fosters, rescue partners, and volunteers for their efforts in keeping the shelter no-kill this year.

Briscoe emphasized the importance of community involvement, thanking supporters for helping save lives. She encouraged continued support through adoption, fostering, volunteering, and advocacy.
