Oxford man arrested in Lafayette County auto burglary case

LAFAYETTE COUNTY, Miss. — Lafayette County deputies arrested Trey Sims, 20, of Oxford, Mississippi, following an investigation into an auto burglary reported on County Road 405 on August 25, according to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office.

After obtaining an affidavit and arrest warrant, authorities located Sims in Oxford on August 28 and took him into custody. He was transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center.

Sims appeared before a Lafayette County Justice Court judge later that day and was assigned a $25,000 bond. The bond related to his previous auto burglary charge was also revoked. He remains in custody at the detention center, officials said.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, authorities added.
