Oxford MS Police Department recognizes K-9 Officer Mackenzie Rogers with Blue Line Award

The Oxford MS Police Department recognized K-9 Officer Mackenzie Rogers with a Blue Line Award, according to a department post on Facebook.

The department said Rogers was patrolling Highway 6 West on Aug. 22 when she noticed a vehicle leaving from behind a closed business. She intervened and discovered an active theft in progress, according to the post.

The post said Rogers built rapport with the occupants, ultimately leading to a full confession. The department credited her sharp awareness, proactive police work and dedication to protecting the community.

The department said Rogers’ actions exemplified its mission to “Serve with Wisdom and Compassion” while creating a “Safe and Connected Community.”
