Potential Threat at Oxford Middle School Leads to Evacuation, Reunification Efforts

The Oxford School District and Oxford Police Department responded Tuesday afternoon to a potential threat at Oxford Middle School, prompting an evacuation of students and a temporary lockdown of other district campuses.

According to officials, the incident began around midday when Oxford Police announced officers were responding to a potential threat at the middle school and asked the public to avoid the area. Bramlett Boulevard was temporarily closed at Jackson Avenue and Jefferson Avenue as law enforcement secured the scene.

School officials later informed parents and guardians that Oxford Middle School students would be reunified with families at a designated site. Parents were instructed to bring identification when picking up students.

By 1:28 p.m., officials confirmed that all Oxford Middle School students and staff had been safely evacuated from the building and transported to the reunification site.

The district also stated that all other schools within the Oxford School District remained on soft lockdown as a precaution, though dismissal times at those campuses were not affected. Only Oxford Middle School experienced changes to dismissal procedures.

Authorities have not yet released additional details about the nature of the threat, and the investigation remains ongoing. Officials encouraged residents to continue avoiding the area and to monitor official social media channels for updates.
