Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Lafayette County Until 7:45 PM

The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for southwestern Lafayette County until 7:45 p.m. Monday. The warning was issued as a storm near Curtis Station was moving east at 40 mph, according to the agency.

The storm is producing wind gusts up to 60 mph and quarter-size hail, which can cause damage to roofs, siding, trees, and vehicles, the weather service said. Residents in the path, including Taylor and nearby communities, are advised to seek shelter indoors and move to an interior room away from windows.

Motorists along MS-328 and US-278 are urged to slow down, as visibility can drop quickly during the storm. The weather service has emphasized the importance of staying alert and taking appropriate safety precautions until the storm passes.
