Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Lafayette County Until 7:45 PM

The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for southwestern Lafayette County until 7:45 p.m. CDT, according to a statement.

The warning was issued at 6:56 p.m. after a severe storm was observed near Curtis Station, moving east at 40 mph. The storm is producing wind gusts up to 60 mph and quarter-size hail, officials said.

The weather service warned that the storm could cause damage to roofs, siding, trees, and vehicles. Areas in the storm’s path include Taylor and nearby communities in southwestern Lafayette County. Residents are urged to move indoors immediately, seeking interior rooms away from windows.

Motorists along MS-328 and US-278 should reduce speed, as visibility may decrease rapidly. The warning remains in effect until 7:45 p.m. CDT, and authorities advise staying alert for additional updates.
