Lafayette County deputies complete instructor training in defensive tactics
Deputies Haley Reid and Jake Moore of the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office completed Strategic Self-Defense and Gun Fighting Tactics instructor training, according to an announcement from Sheriff Joey East and the sheriff’s office.
The deputies attended the two-week training at the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers’ Training Academy in Pearl, Mississippi. The program, known as SSGT, prepared them to become certified instructors for Vanguard Defensive Tactics Levels I and II, the sheriff’s office said.
The certification will allow Reid and Moore to bring the specialized training back to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office and assist in preparing fellow deputies to respond safely and effectively to physical and tactical challenges they may encounter in the field, according to the announcement.
The sheriff’s office said the deputies’ completion of the training reflects their commitment to continued professional development, officer safety and advanced law enforcement training. The office also recognized Reid and Moore for their dedication to advancing their training and sharing that knowledge with fellow law enforcement personnel.
